Fund Description
The fund was incepted in May 1980 and is managed by American Century Investment Management. The fund seeks high current income. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in U.S. government debt securities, which includes U.S. Treasury securities and other securities (including mortgage-backed securities) issued or guaranteed by the U.S. government and its agencies and instrumentalities. The fund may also invest in derivative instruments such as options, futures contracts, options on futures contracts, and swap agreements (including, but not limited to, credit default swap agreements), or in mortgage or asset-backed securities, provided that such investments are in keeping with the fund's investment objective. Dividends are distributed monthly. Capital gains, if any, are distributed annually in December.
