Fund Description
The fund was incepted in Novemeber 1993 and is managed by Fred Alger Management. The objective of this fund is to seek long-term capital appreciation by focusing on companies of all market capitalization sizes, which demonstrate promising growth potential. It is permitted to leverage (borrow money) to increase its stock purchases when the stock market or a particular security is expected to rise. The Portfolio is also permitted to engage in options and futures transactions, a highly specialized activity which involves investment techniques and risks different from those associated with ordinary portfolio security transactions. However, these investment techniques enable a portfolio manager to act swiftly to take advantage of changing market conditions and offer the potential for greater long-term rewards. The fund offers dividends and capital gains annually in December.
