Fund Description

The fund primarily buys investment-grade debt securities and, under normal market conditions, invests at least 80% of net assets in debt securities with interest exempt from federal and California income taxes, issued by cities, counties and other municipalities in California and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico. The fund maintains a weighted average maturity of not less than three years nor more than ten years, with no maturity limit on individual holdings. Up to 20% of net assets may be invested in below investment-grade (junk) or unrated securities deemed comparable. Sell decisions consider interest-rate changes, issuer credit quality, alternatives and market conditions.
