Fund Description
The fund was incepted in June 2002 and is managed by The Dreyfus Corporation. The fund seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the stocks of small companies. The fund invests in growth companies that the manager believes have solid market positions, visionary leadership and reasonable financial strength. Although the fund normally invests in U.S.-based companies, it may invest up to 35% of its assets in foreign companies. The fund's stock investments may include common stocks, preferred stocks and convertible securities, including those purchased in initial public offerings or shortly thereafter. Dividends and capital gains are paid annually.
