Fund Description
The fund was incepted in March 1986 and is managed by the Franklin Advisers. The fund seeks to invest in high yielding, lower rated municipal securities from across the nation. The fund's secondary goal is capital appreciation. The fund's principal investment goal is to provide investors with a high current yield exempt from federal income taxes. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in securities whose interest is free from personal income taxes and federal income taxes, including the federal alternative minimum tax. The fund offers dividends monthly. Capital gains, if any, are distributed annually.
