Fund Description

The fund was incepted in August 1991 and is managed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management. The fund seeks a high total return, emphasizing current income, and, to a lesser extent, providing opportunities for capital appreciation. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in a portfolio of fixed-income securities of U.S. and foreign issuers. The fund also enters into transactions in foreign currencies. The fund may invest more than 25% of its total assets in the securities of corporate and governmental issuers located in each of Canada, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom as well as in the securities of U.S. issuers. A maximum of 25% of the fund's total assets may be invested in securities of issuers in any single foreign country. The fund may also invest up to 10% of its total assets in issuers in emerging countries. Dividends are declared and paid monthly. Capital gains are distributed annually.
