Fund Description

The fund seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing at least 80% of net assets (plus borrowings) in publicly traded equity securities of companies economically tied to countries in Asia excluding Japan, including common and preferred stocks, convertible securities, rights and warrants. Under normal conditions it invests across at least four Asian countries, including emerging and developed markets, and invests in emerging market countries. It may invest up to 20% in companies outside Asia, generally in developed markets such as the US and UK. The portfolio typically holds about 35 approximately equal-weight positions, but may range from as few as 25 to 75 or more, generally in companies with market caps of at least $500 million. For temporary defensive purposes, it may invest any portion of assets in cash and cash equivalents, including money market funds.
