Fund Description

The fund was incepted in September 1991 and is managed by Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc. The fund seeks above-average capital appreciation over the long term. The fund invests at least 65% of its total assets in common stocks and other equities of small companies throughout the world (companies with market values similar to the smallest 20% of the Citigroup Broad Market Index). The fund may invest up to 35% of its total assets in common stocks and other equities of large companies or in debt securities (of which 5% of net assets may be junk bonds, i.e., grade BB/Ba and below). Dividends and capital gains are distributed in November or December.
