Fund Description
The fund was incepted in November 1978 and is managed by Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. The fund seeks to provide shareholders with as high a level of current income as is consistent with the investment policies. Capital appreciation is the secondary objective. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in fixed-income securities that are rated in the lower rating categories of the recognized rating agencies (Baa or lower by Moody's Investors Service, Inc. or BBB or lower by Standard & Poors or Fitch Ratings ), or in unrated securities that fund management believes are of comparable quality. The fund may invest in fixed-income securities of any maturity. Dividends are distributed monthly. Net realized capital gains are distributed at least annually.
