Fund Description

rrrThe fund was incepted in November 1987 and is managed by Merrill Lynch Investment Managers. The fund seeks long-term total return and current income. Under normal circumstances, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in dividend-paying common stocks that yield more than the Standard & Poor's 500 Composite Stock Price Index. The fund emphasizes investments in large companies. In addition to common stocks, the fund also invests in convertible 22securities, non-convertible preferred stock and debt securities. The fund invests in debt securities of any maturity that are rated investment grade. The fund may invest up to 25% of its total assets in securities of foreign issuers. Dividends are distributed quarterly. Net realized capital gains are distributed annually.
