Fund Description

The fund normally invests at least 80% of net assets, including any borrowings for investment purposes, in growth companies MFS believes have above average earnings growth potential. Growth potential may be assessed by inclusion in a growth index, classification by an independent third-party data provider, and/or historical or projected growth rates relative to the applicable equity market; such companies may trade at high valuations relative to earnings, dividends, book value, or other measures. It invests primarily in U.S. and foreign equity securities, including emerging markets, such as common stocks and depositary receipts, may invest in companies of any size, and uses an active bottom-up approach based mainly on fundamental analysis, with quantitative screening tools also considered. It normally diversifies across industries, sectors, countries, and regions, but may concentrate significantly in a single area, generally invests the fund's assets in at least three different countries and invests a percentage of the fund's net assets in securities of foreign issuers equal to at least the lesser of 40% or the percentage of foreign issuers in the MSCI All Country World Growth Index less 15%.
