Fund Description
The fund was incepted in December 1993 and is managed by Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc. The fund seeks to provide high current income and, secondarily, long-term capital appreciation. Under normal market conditions, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, in high yield bonds and other debt securities issued by governments and corporations in emerging market countries or the return on which is derived primarily from emerging markets. The fund may invest up to 20% of its net assets in debt securities including those that are rated below investment-grade. The fund declares and pays dividends quarterly in March, June, September and December. Capital gains, if any, are distributed annually in December.
