Fund Description
The fund was incepted in October 1976 and is managed by Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc. The fund seeks to provide income exempt from regular federal income tax while actively seeking to reduce downside risk as compared with other tax-free income funds. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, in securities of municipalities across the United States and in other securities whose income is free from regular federal income tax. The fund may invest up to 20% of its net assets in securities whose income is subject to alternative minimum tax (AMT). Dividends are declared daily and paid monthly. Capital gains are distributed in November or December.
