Fund Description

The fund was incepted in April 1990 and is managed by Capital Research and Management Company. The fund's main objective is to provide long-term growth of capital by investing in the stocks of smaller companies in the United States and around the world. The fund normally invests, at least 80% of assets in equities of companies with small market capitalizations, typically between $50 million and $1.5 billion at time of purchase. The fund invests usually in common stocks, government and corporate debt, cash and equivalents. If there are any dividends and capital gains, the management distributes them in December.
