Fund Description
The fund was incepted in July 2000 and is managed by Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc. The fund seeks to produce a high level of income while actively seeking to reduce downside risk compared with other GNMA mutual funds. Under normal circumstances, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, in 'Ginnie Maes,' which are mortgage-backed securities that are issued or guaranteed by the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA). The fund also invests in US Treasury securities and repurchase agreements backed by those securities. Dividends are declared and paid monthly. Capital gains are distributed in December.
