Fund Description

The fund was incepted in July 1924 and is managed by State Street Research & Management Company. The fund seeks to provide long-term growth of capital and, secondarily, long-term growth of income. The Investment Trust is one of America's oldest mutual funds. In its search for long-term growth of capital, it seeks both growth and value stocks primarily in large, established companies across a broad range of industries. Under normal circumstances, the fund invests at least 65% of its net assets in stocks and convertible securities that have long-term growth potential. The fund reserves the right to invest up to 35% of its net assets in other securities. These may include U.S. government securities and investment grade corporate bonds. The fund typically distributes any net income and net capital gains to shareholders around the end of the fund's fiscal year, which is December 31.
