Fund Description
Vanguard Limited-Term Tax-Exempt Fund was incepted in August 1987 and is managed by The Vanguard Group. The objective of this fund is to seek income exempt from federal income tax. The fund holds high-quality, tax-exempt, municipal securities with a combined average maturity of three to four years. At least 75% of the bonds it holds are in the top three credit-rating categories, and not more than 20% of assets may be invested in bonds rated Baa (by Moody's Investors Service, Inc.) or BBB (by Standard and Poor's Corporation). The remaining 5% may be invested in securities with lower ratings or that are unrated. Dividends are distributed monthly. Capital gains, if any, are distributed annually in December.
