Fund Description
The fund invests in a diversified portfolio of Vanguard mutual funds, employing an asset allocation strategy that consists of approximately 60% fixed income securities and 40% common stocks. Specifically, it targets 42% in U.S. fixed income securities, 24% in U.S. stocks, 18% in foreign fixed income securities, and 16% in foreign stocks. The fixed income component includes a variety of short-, intermediate-, and long-term U.S. government, U.S. agency, and investment-grade U.S. corporate bonds, as well as mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities. Foreign bonds, issued in currencies other than the U.S. dollar, are hedged to mitigate currency exposure. The stock allocation features a mix of U.S. and foreign large-, mid-, and small-cap stocks.
