Fund Description
Incepted in December 1987, this fund is managed by Vanguard Group. The objective of this fund is to seek high level of interest income. The fund invests primarily in short-term securities issued by U.S. government agencies. The fund also invests in U.S. Treasury securities and in repurchase agreements backed by U.S. Treasury or federal agency securities. To reduce fluctuations in its share price, the fund maintains an average maturity of two to three years. The fund declares dividends daily and distributes them on the first business day of each month. The fund distributes capital gains annually in December.
