Profit from the Pros

Hello Volatility. Goodbye Joy of Investing.

Most people enjoy sipping hot chocolate by a cozy fire. However, a rare few actually disdain this mundane event. Instead they crave the adrenaline rush of base jumping or sky diving to feel alive.

Reity, what does this have to do with investing?

Only a "special" breed of investor has the stomach to enjoy wild volatility as we have it now. I emphasize the word "special" as a code word for CRAZY ;-)

Most of us would prefer a market as we saw in the bulk of the last several months. That is where the upward trend is clear and stocks calmly and steadily advance in that direction.

Compare that to the last couple weeks' market that is violently whipping up and down with no rhyme or reason. Not many investors find the joy in that...and those who do are also CRAZY.

The best advice at this time is to remind you that that these volatile periods don't last. Look to a further out horizon to see that the bull is still in charge. So don't get tossed from your favorite shares on the way down...but do look for opportunities to buy more at those lower levels.

Best,

Steve Reitmeister
