Synchrony Financial (SYF - Free Report) reported third-quarter 2026 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.68, which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 8.1%. However, the bottom line decreased 6.3% year over year.

Net interest income increased 1.9% year over year to $4.8 billion but missed the consensus estimate by 0.6%. The growth was driven by higher average loan receivables and lower funding costs.

The quarterly earnings were aided by strong purchase volume and improved credit performance. However, higher operating expenses and an increase in the provision for credit losses partly offset these positives.
