Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • KEYS FITS-16CH doubles channel capacity, enabling more efficient interconnect testing.
  • The platform validates 106G and 212G lanes for 800G interconnects and emerging 1.6T technologies.
  • Automated tuning with Keysight DCA-X improves signal quality and cuts testing time to minutes.

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (KEYS - Free Report) has introduced the Functional Interconnect Test Solutions (FITS)-16CH digital-layer error performance validation system to improve the testing of optical and copper interconnects used in data centers. The new platform features 16 transmit and 16 receive channels, doubling the capacity of the previous FITS-8CH model and helping engineers test complete interconnect assemblies.

Keysight’s new system helps users evaluate interconnect performance through bit error ratio and forward error correction measurements, while enabling 106G and 212G lane-rate validation for existing 800G interconnects and emerging 1.6T technologies. It supports various optical and copper interconnects, including active optical cables, active copper cables, passive direct attach cables and high-speed copper flyover cables used in data centers, networking and high-performance computing.

The company has also included automated tuning features to improve testing efficiency. The system’s software integrates with the Keysight DCA-X to automatically optimize signal settings and improve signal quality. The automated process can reduce testing time to just a few minutes compared with hours, days, or even weeks required for manual testing.

The platform also works with Keysight’s data communications analyzers, bit error ratio testers and oscilloscopes. Its features include automated testing, real-time charts, pass/fail results, and PDF and CSV report generation to simplify testing and improve productivity. The launch expands Keysight’s product portfolio and facilitates interconnect development, manufacturing and performance testing for next-generation data centers.
