3 Leisure Stocks Poised to Beat Earnings Estimates This Season

Read MoreHide Full Article

The leisure industry is likely to have benefited from sustained demand for travel, entertainment and recreational activities this earnings season. Despite ongoing pressure on discretionary spending, consumers continued to seek experiential offerings, supporting business across cruise operators, casinos, hotels, theme parks and other leisure destinations.

Strong vacation demand, event-related activity and seasonal travel trends might have helped companies sustain revenues. Continued interest in premium experiences and out-of-home entertainment is also likely to have provided support to industry players during the quarter.

Pricing strategies and favorable revenue mix are expected to have played an important role in supporting the industry's top line. Leisure operators might have benefited from higher ticket prices, room rates, cruise fares and increased spending on ancillary services. Companies focused on premium experiences, personalized offerings and bundled packages to enhance customer spending. Robust onboard revenues, gaming activity, food and beverage sales, merchandise and other add-on services might have further contributed to revenue growth, helping offset potential softness in certain consumer segments.

On the bottom-line front, leisure companies are likely to have remained focused on cost management, operational efficiency and disciplined capacity deployment. Although labor, maintenance, fuel and other operating expenses might have continued to weigh on profitability, improved capacity utilization and productivity initiatives might have provided some relief. Companies with strong pricing power, favorable business mix and effective expense controls might have been better positioned to protect margins.

How to Make the Right Pick?

Given the wide range of companies in this space, the task is by no means easy. While it is impossible to be sure of the outperformers, our proprietary methodology — a positive Earnings ESP along with a favorable Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), 2 (Buy) or 3 (Hold) — makes this relatively simple. You can uncover the best stocks to buy or sell before they’re reported with our Earnings ESP Filter.

Earnings ESP is our proprietary methodology for identifying stocks that have a high chance of surprising in their upcoming earnings announcement. It shows the percentage difference between the Most Accurate Estimate and the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Our research shows that for stocks with this combination, the chance of a positive earnings surprise is as high as 70%.

Our Choices

Here are a few leisure companies that investors can take a look at.

Planet Fitness, Inc. (PLNT - Free Report) is scheduled to report third-quarter 2026 results on Nov. 5. The company currently has a Zacks Rank #3 and an Earnings ESP of +0.53%. You can see the complete list of today’s Zacks #1 Rank stocks here.

Planet Fitness’ third-quarter 2026 performance is likely to have benefited from continued club expansion, higher Black Card membership penetration and equipment replacement demand, supporting revenue growth. Franchise revenues and royalties might have been aided by new club openings and membership-related income. The redesigned app, AI-based retention tools and enhanced Black Card Spa offerings are expected to have improved member engagement and supported customer retention. However, margin pressures and higher interest expenses might have partly offset the bottom-line benefits of revenue growth and operational efficiencies.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter 2026 earnings per share (EPS) is pegged at 80 cents, flat year over year.

Red Rock Resorts, Inc. (RRR - Free Report) is scheduled to report third-quarter 2026 results on Nov. 3, after the closing bell. The company has a Zacks Rank #3 and an Earnings ESP of +29.19% at present.

Red Rock Resorts’ third-quarter 2026 top line is likely to have benefited from stable Las Vegas locals demand, higher carded spend per visit and continued strength at Durango. Healthy hotel occupancy, increased food-and-beverage volumes and higher check averages might have supported revenues. Growth investments at Durango, Sunset Station and Green Valley Ranch could have aided business momentum. However, construction-related disruption, elevated utility costs and higher capital spending might have weighed on margins and profitability.

The Zacks Consensus Estimate for third-quarter 2026 EPS is pegged at 23 cents compared with 68 cents reported in the prior-year quarter.
