For Immediate Release
Chicago, IL – November 6, 2026 – Zacks Equity Research shares Amphenol Corporation (APH - Free Report) as the Bull of the Day and Lindsay Corporation (LNN - Free Report) as the Bear of the Day. In addition, Zacks Equity Research provides analysis on Verizon Communications, Inc. (VZ - Free Report) , AT&T Inc. (T - Free Report) and T-Mobile US, Inc. (TMUS - Free Report) .
Amphenol Corporation, a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), just delivered one of the most impressive quarters any component supplier has produced in this cycle.
The connector and interconnect specialist crossed $10 billion in quarterly sales for the first time in its history, and it did so while orders nearly doubled. For a company founded in 1932, that is a remarkable late-career acceleration.
What makes Amphenol worth your attention is that it offers exposure to the artificial intelligence buildout without requiring you to pick which chip architecture wins. Every accelerator, every rack and every data center needs interconnect. Amphenol sells it to all of them.
Amphenol is part of the Zacks Electronics – Connectors industry group, which currently ranks in the top 5% out of approximately 250 Zacks Ranked Industries. Because it is ranked in the top half of all Zacks Ranked Industries, we expect this group to outperform over the next 3 to 6 months.
Take note of the favorable characteristics for this group below. Stocks in this industry are projected to experience above-average earnings growth, which is one of the most reliable precursors to higher stock prices over time.
Historical research studies suggest that approximately half of a stock's price appreciation is due to its industry grouping. In fact, the top 50% of Zacks Ranked Industries outperforms the bottom 50% by a factor of more than 2 to 1.
It's no secret that investing in stocks that are part of leading industry groups can give us a leg up relative to the market. By focusing on leading stocks within the top 50% of Zacks Ranked Industries, we can dramatically improve our stock-picking success.
Company Description
Amphenol designs, manufactures and markets electrical, electronic and fiber optic connectors, interconnect systems, antennas, sensors and coaxial cable. Its products reach an unusually broad set of end markets: communications infrastructure, data centers, automotive, commercial aerospace, defense, industrial and mobile devices. The company is headquartered in Wallingford, Connecticut.
That breadth is the structural argument. Amphenol operates through a decentralized model of more than one hundred general managers who run their businesses with considerable autonomy. It is an unusual structure for a company of this scale, and it has produced a long record of successful bolt-on acquisitions that larger, more centralized competitors have struggled to replicate.
The AI opportunity sits squarely in the IT Datacom business. As compute density rises inside the rack, the interconnect problem gets harder rather than easier. Higher speeds demand better signal integrity, tighter tolerances and more sophisticated cable assemblies. That is a content-per-rack story, which means Amphenol's revenue can grow faster than unit volumes — exactly what has been happening.
Record Results and Rising Estimates
Amphenol reported third-quarter results on October 28th that beat on both lines by a wide margin. Adjusted earnings of $0.80 per share topped the $0.73 Zacks Consensus Estimate by 9.59% and grew roughly 70% from the $0.47 posted a year earlier. Revenue reached a record $10.23 billion, up about 65% from $6.19 billion and ahead of expectations by 8.37%.
The order book is the number that warrants a closer look. Orders rose 99% year over year, and AI-related datacom revenue grew 117%, with the broader IT Datacom business up 77% on an organic basis. Orders of that magnitude do not reflect a single large shipment; they reflect customers reserving capacity well into next year.
Management's guidance tells the same story. For the fourth quarter, Amphenol guided to adjusted earnings of $0.81 to $0.83 per share on revenue of $10.3 to $10.5 billion. The consensus heading into the print stood at $0.75 on roughly $9.7 billion. That is a substantial guidance raise well above where the Street was modeling, and it implies another sequential record.
The full-year picture moved up accordingly, with the company guiding to $2.82 to $2.84 per share on $36.9 to $37.1 billion in revenue against a consensus near $2.69 and $35.7 billion. Analysts have been scrambling to catch up, and several firms raised price targets in the days following the report.
Let's Get Technical
APH shares remain above an upward-sloping 200-day (red line) moving average, and the stock has held up much better through the recent AI sell-off compared to most related companies. Stocks that weather volatility well tend to lead the next leg up. The reaction to the October report came on expanded volume, which tells us institutions were adding rather than taking profits into strength.
Only stocks in genuinely powerful uptrends make this type of move and sustain it. This is the kind of name we want in the portfolio — one that is trending well and receiving positive earnings estimate revisions at the same time.
Empirical research shows a strong correlation between near-term stock movements and trends in earnings estimate revisions. As long as that trend remains intact and Amphenol continues to deliver earnings beats, the stock should continue its bullish run.
Bottom Line
Backed by a top 5% industry group, a long history of beats on both the top and bottom lines, and a guidance raise that sits well above where analysts were modeling, it isn't difficult to see why this company is a compelling investment right now.
Amphenol carries a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) driven by favorable estimate momentum. Robust fundamentals combined with a strong technical trend certainly justify adding shares to the mix. If you haven't already done so, be sure to put APH on your watchlist.
Lindsay Corporation operates two businesses. Its irrigation segment manufactures center pivot and lateral move systems sold to farmers across North America, Brazil, the Middle East and other international markets. Its infrastructure segment produces road safety products, including the Road Zipper movable barrier system used to reconfigure traffic lanes.
It is a well-run company with genuine competitive advantages in both businesses. It is also tied to a customer base that is not currently in a position to spend, and that is the problem.
The Zacks Rundown
Lindsay is a Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell). Shares reside near $109, below key moving averages, and much closer to the bottom of their one-year range. The stock has been unable to sustain a rally for most of 2026.
The company is part of the Zacks Manufacturing – Farm Equipment industry group, which is ranked in the bottom 48% out of roughly 250 Zacks Ranked Industries. Because this industry is ranked in the bottom half of all Zacks Ranked Industries, we expect it to underperform the market over the next 3 to 6 months.
While individual stocks have the ability to outperform even when included in weak industries, their industry association serves as a headwind for any potential rallies. Stocks in this group are also expected to post below-average earnings growth. With much better alternatives in the current market environment, this stock should be avoided.
A Good Quarter Inside a Bad Year
Lindsay reported fiscal fourth-quarter results on October 22nd that actually beat expectations. Adjusted earnings of $1.10 per share topped the $0.98 consensus, revenue of $161.6 million exceeded the $149.6 million expected, and operating income rose 39% to $15.8 million. The shares rose on the news.
It'd be wise to look past that headline, because the full year tells a very different story. Fiscal 2026 revenue of $635.9 million declined 6% from $676.4 million. Operating income fell 24% to $66.9 million, taking operating margin down to 10.5% from 13.0%. Net earnings dropped 25% to $55.7 million, and diluted earnings per share fell 21% to $5.33 from $6.78.
The gap between that 21% EPS decline is worth noting. Lindsay repurchased $80.7 million of stock during the year. Buybacks of that size absorb part of the per-share damage, which means the underlying deterioration in the business is somewhat worse than the earnings per share line suggests.
Cash generation tells the same story. Operating cash flow fell to $74.9 million from $132.9 million, a decline of 44%, and the cash balance ended the year at $189.8 million against $250.6 million a year earlier. Backlog slipped to $102.5 million from $110.7 million.
The Project That Carried the Year Is Finishing
Here is the detail we find most concerning. Lindsay's international irrigation revenue has been supported by a large multi-year project in the Middle East and North Africa. Roughly $70 million of that $80 million project has now been delivered, and management indicated the remaining $10 million or so is primarily services revenue that will be recognized over the next twelve to twenty-four months.
In other words, the single largest contributor to international irrigation revenue is winding down. Management acknowledged as much, guiding to difficult year-over-year comparisons in international project markets in fiscal 2027.
The domestic picture offers little offset. Management stated plainly that it is still too early to forecast significant recovery in North American irrigation demand, and expects conditions to remain tempered until commodity prices and farm income improve. Brazil, the other major international market, faces high interest rates and constrained credit availability.
Deteriorating Forecasts
Analysts have responded as you would expect. Lindsay was downgraded to a Zacks Rank #5 (Strong Sell) at the end of October. The consensus for the current fiscal year now sits at $4.70 per share, which would represent a decline of roughly 12% from the $5.33 the company just earned.
Consider what that means. Fiscal 2026 earnings already fell 21%, and the Street is modeling another double-digit decline on top of it. Two consecutive years of contracting earnings while the broader market compounds is a recipe for sustained underperformance, and falling estimates of this kind are precisely what the Zacks Rank is designed to capture.
Technical Outlook
LNN stock has been in a downtrend for most of 2026. Both the 50-day (blue line) and 200-day (red line) moving averages are sloping downward, and shares have spent much of the year trading beneath them. Rally attempts have been repeatedly capped at progressively lower levels, which is the signature of distribution rather than accumulation.
Shares would need to reclaim both moving averages and show a genuine turn in earnings estimate revisions to warrant taking any long positions in the stock.
Final Thoughts
Farm income and commodity prices drive irrigation demand, and both remain unsupportive. The MENA project that masked weakness elsewhere is nearly complete. Management will not forecast a recovery. And the consensus calls for a second straight year of declining earnings.
A deteriorating fundamental and technical backdrop, membership in one of the weaker industry groups in our universe, and falling future earnings estimates will likely serve as a ceiling on any potential rallies.

Can Verizon's 5G Expansion in the 2026 NFL Season Drive Future Growth?
Verizon Communications, Inc. is strengthening its technology presence in professional sports through its long-standing partnership with the National Football League (NFL), advancing its network technology and digital solutions to improve stadium operations and fan connectivity during the 2026 season.
Verizon is enhancing its private wireless network to support secure communication between NFL coaches and provide game officials with reliable connectivity. NFL officials use connected watches to receive real-time game information, including game clock updates, first-down measurements and punt out-of-bounds locations. The company is also expanding network coverage to nine international games across eight overseas venues, while improving stadium connectivity to meet rising fan data demand.
The company has deployed advanced 5G C-band, millimeter-wave (mmWave) Distributed Radio Access Network and Distributed Antenna System technologies across major NFL stadiums. At Highmark Stadium, Verizon has enhanced wireless coverage, parking lot connectivity and high-speed Wi-Fi, while Caesars Superdome has received 509 mmWave radios and 155 C-band radios to increase network capacity during major events.
These investments support Verizon's broader strategy of expanding its 5G capabilities and private wireless solutions. By bringing advanced network technology to large-scale sporting events, the company is positioning itself to benefit from growing demand for high-capacity connectivity and next-generation digital experiences.
How Are Competitors Advancing in Technology Upgrades?
Verizon faces competition from AT&T Inc. and T-Mobile US, Inc.. AT&T has been investing in its network infrastructure to improve connectivity and meet growing demand for 5G and fiber services. The company signed a multi-year agreement with Corning worth more than $3 billion to secure fiber and cable for network expansion and acquired additional spectrum from EchoStar to strengthen its 5G capacity. AT&T is also working with T-Mobile and Verizon on a joint venture aimed at reducing wireless dead zones across the United States.
T-Mobile has been upgrading its 5G network by introducing AI-powered automation to improve network performance and reliability. The company is expanding its AutoPilot and Dynamic CX technologies to help the network respond faster to changing conditions and manage traffic more efficiently. T-Mobile is investing in backup power and network infrastructure to maintain connectivity during outages and periods of high demand.
VZ's Price Performance, Valuation & Estimates
