Company Summary
Intel Corporation, the world’s largest semiconductor company and primary supplier of microprocessors and chipsets, is gradually reducing its dependence on the PC-centric business by moving into data-centric businesses — such as AI and autonomous driving.
Its data-centric businesses accounted for 48.6% of total revenues in 2021. This underscores the fact that the company’s data-centric businesses are helping it generate revenues close to what it generates from the PC business. The contribution of data-centric businesses to the total revenues has grown gradually over the past five years and should become significant in the near future.
Intel has reorganized its business segments to better reflect the growth in both large traditional markets and high-growth emerging markets for increased transparency, focus and accountability. Its current operating segments are Client Computing Group (CCG, 57.4% of total revenues in fourth-quarter 2023), Datacenter and AI Group (DCAI, 25.9%), Network and Edge Group (NEX, 9.5%), Mobileye (4.1%), Intel Foundry Services (IFS, 1.9%) and All Other (1.1%). The erstwhile Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics Group (AXG) segment has been integrated into CCG and DCAI to drive effective go-to-market capability, accelerate scale of operations and reduce costs.
CCG focuses on high-growth businesses, thin-and-light, commercial and gaming, and growing opportunities in areas such as connectivity. DCAI seeks to develop leading data center products, including Intel Xeon server and field programmable gate array products, while overseeing overall artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. NEX focuses on driving technology and product leadership throughout the network to the intelligent edge. Mobileye offers driving assistance and self-driving solutions, while IFS is a fully vertical, standalone foundry business that offers a wide range of manufacturing services to meet unique product needs, including sort and test capabilities.
