To increase its data center capacity, a cloud-service software company Cornerstone OnDemand, has selected Hewlett-Packard’s (HPQ - Analyst Report) “HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage” solution. The solution is expected to help the future growth of the company by simplifying its storage management services by increasing the data center capacity of the client.

With the up gradation of the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage, Cornerstone was able to enhance its data center capacity and performance without increasing costs related to infrastructure or energy. Moreover, with the implementation of this new technology, Cornerstone returned better response time by reducing latency by 20.0%.

This has helped the company to reduce the risk related to downtime and increased Cornerstone's business continuity by reducing backup time by almost 90 percentage points.

The demand for storage has grown over the last few years as companies are generating a large amount of digital data that need to be stored. It has also become clear that this data can be organized to generate useful information, the analysis of which will lead to business growth.  As a result, many business enterprises are increasingly feeling the need for additional capacity and are waiting for prices to come down in order to increase investments.

This has influenced HP to unveil new storage products on a regular basis. Some new products in this case are worth mentioning, as it helps the company to rebuild 3PAR StoreServ arrays and HP StoreOnce backup hardware products. The new products by HP have multi-petabyte capacities and can manage big databases.

The enhancements include new-generation designs, and can use the same code base as other 3PAR and StoreOnce versions. This also enables the transition of data from 3PAR to other devices.

The company’s product acceptance is growing. Therefore, while there may not be a remarkable increase in near-term revenue, it could ultimately offset the challenges in the PC business. The new product mix is a strong step taken to improve the profitability of the company.

Apart from storage, the company is also exploring other segments like data analysis, information management, security and software. Although the cloud offers plenty of opportunities, tough competition from Salesforce.com (CRM - Analyst Report), IBM (IBM - Analyst Report) and Accenture Plc. (ACN - Analyst Report) are challenges.

Currently, Hewlett-Packard carries a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
