Fund Description

The fund was incepted in June 1996 and is managed by Dreyfus Corporation. The fund seeks long-term capital growth. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the stocks of companies organized, or with a majority of assets or business, in emerging market countries. The fund does not invest more than 25% of its total assets in the securities of companies in any one emerging market country. The fund's stock investments include common stocks, preferred stocks and convertible securities, including those purchased in initial public offerings or shortly thereafter. Dividends and capital gains are distributed annually.
