Fund Description

The fund was incepted in March 1984 and is managed by State Street Research & Management Company. The fund seeks to provide long-term growth of capital. The fund is a stock fund with a growth approach to mid-cap investing. It invests primarily in those stocks that are included or are comparable to those in the Russell Mid-Cap Growth Index. Under normal market conditions, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in mid-cap stocks. The fund's investments may include common and preferred stocks, convertible securities and warrants. The fund reserves the right to invest up to 20% of its net assets in other securities. These may include other types of stocks, U.S. government securities and investment grade corporate bonds. The fund typically distributes any net income and net capital gains to shareholders in December.
