Fund Description

The fund was incepted in April 1928 and is managed by Deutsche Investment Management Americas Inc. The fund seeks to provide high income while managing its portfolio in a manner consistent with the prudent investment of shareholders' capital. The fund primarily invests in US dollar-denominated investment grade fixed income securities, including corporate bonds, US government and agency bonds and mortgage and asset-backed securities. The fund normally invests at least 65% of its total assets in high-grade US bonds (those considered to be in the top three grades of credit quality). The fund also invest up to 25% of its total assets in foreign investment grade bonds (those considered to be in the top four grades of credit quality) and up to 10% in foreign currency related investments (e.g., forward foreign currency exchange contracts) for both non-hedging and hedging purposes. Dividends are declared daily and paid monthly. Capital gains are distributed in November or December.
