About Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise
The Price, Consensus and EPS Surprise chart displays the company's stock price along with the consensus estimate and the EPS surprise. Zacks tracks individual sell-side analyst estimates and creates a consensus EPS estimates. The consensus estimate is the average of all the current estimates made available by brokerage analysts. Consensus estimates are more advantageous because they reduce the risk of any single analyst making an incorrect forecast. ZACKS CONSENSUS ESTIMATE = THE AVERAGE OF ALL CURRENT EPS ESTIMATES. EPS Surprise is the difference (expressed as a percentage) between the actual reported quarterly earnings per share (EPS) vs the estimated quarterly EPS. A company that reports $1.10 in actual quarterly EPS vs. $1.00 in estimated quarterly EPS would show a 10% positive EPS surprise. ((Actual EPS - Estimated EPS) / absolute Estimated EPS) *100 = EPS Surprise %.
