General Dynamics reported impressive 2015 results owing to strong margins (up 70 basis points) and lower tax rate. Its Gulfstream order intake was strong for the year 2015 and its defense business is expected to see modest revenue growth in 2016 with higher growth in 2017 led primarily by Combat Systems as work ramps up on international contracts and Marine led by growth on Virginia and Ohio Class. It is one of the only two contractors in the world equipped to build nuclear-powered submarines. The company’s revenues are derived from a broad portfolio of products and services that help to keep the overall growth momentum steady. Increasing competition, more reliance on government orders, and demand fluctuation in the cyclical aerospace markets are headwinds for the company.
