•    Co-founder of BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) Michael Lazaridis has reduced his stake in the company to a figure marginally below 5% after he sold 3.5 million shares over the last two days. The sale of shares follows the declaration of a third-quarter loss of $4.4 billion by the company in the previous week

•    Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC) announced it has renewed its distribution agreement with Viacom, Inc. (NASDAQ:VIA). The deal  enables Time Warner  to distribute all Viacom channels on its cable TV network and tablet apps

•    Westmoreland Coal Company (NASDAQ:WLB) revealed that it has reached an agreement to purchase the coal mining operations of Sherritt International Corporation, for around $435 million. The deal will  help Westmoreland to enlarge its Western Canadian operations

•    American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) have assented to pay a minimum of $75.7 million to close an investigation regarding deceptive marketing of certain discontinued card products
